Innocent Odur is the youngest child in a family of six. His mother, Caroline, was first
married to Innocent’s uncle (his father’s brother). After her husband passed away,
traditional customs within the community dictated that she marry Richard, the brother
of her deceased husband. From this union, Caroline gave birth to two children,
including Innocent.

Shortly after Innocent’s birth, his father abandoned the family and has never returned.
This left Caroline solely responsible for raising all six children. As a peasant farmer,
she relies on a small inherited plot of land, which provides just enough food for the
family’s survival but not enough income to cover school fees for all her children. The
financial strain has made it impossible for her to ensure consistent education for each
child.
