Erick is the youngest in his family. His father passed away in 2020 due to paralysis,
leaving his mother as the sole surviving parent responsible for the children’s care.
The mother is illiterate and relies on peasant farming to support the household. She
grows peas, cassava, and other crops primarily for home consumption, occasionally
selling the surplus to meet basic needs such as salt and kerosene for lighting.
 
As the only breadwinner, Erick’s mother struggles to provide for the family. While she
has managed to keep the household together, her limited resources make it difficult to ensure consistent school attendance for her two youngest children. The older children have already dropped out of school due to financial constraints, and Erick now faces the same risk.
 
Erick wants to become a doctor someday!
